WHAT MAKES IT REAL?

LOCATION...

Carnarvon National Park, Queensland

This is a really lovely shady camp ground, 4 km from the start of the Carnarvon Gorge Walk. This has to be in our top 10 of Australian bush walks...it is just so beautiful.

Takarakka Bush Resort is pretty pricy, but it has some of the best facilities we have seen in a camp ground (big clean showers and a well lit campers kitchen with hobs, bbqs, picnic tables/benches and sinks).

Make sure you take a walk down to the Platypus Pool, which is in the creek that runs along side the camp ground. You stand a really good chance of seeing a platypus early morning or late afternoon - we saw a platypus just before sunset.
