Australian Outback - Litchfield National Park, Florence Falls Campground
Only 2 hours drive from Darwin (about 100km south west) is the wonderful Litchfield National Park. A real treasure of a place, full of swimming holes and waterfalls.
Florence falls is one of the best swimming holes in Litchfield. It really is a beautiful place to swim. There are 2 waterfalls crashing into a deep plunge pool, with lots of palms and cycads shading the rocks for you to sit on. It can get quite busy here, but if you clamber over the rocks and wade through a bit of water you can usually get some space (to the left of the falls if you are facing them).

Florence Falls Campground is pretty special too. Not least because it is about 1 minute walk to the falls lookout and 5 minutes walk from the swimming hole (if you access it by the 160 steps, roughly 300m). But it also has lots of shady trees and a free hot shower (one for each sex).
If you don't fancy taking the steps, there is a really nice easy 1km walk (Shady Creek Walk) to the Falls. We did the walk there and took the steps back.
There is a 4wd campground at Florence Falls too, but we didn’t see it.
$6.60 per adult, $3.30 per child (5-15 years old), under 5’s are free, families (2 adults, 4 children) $15.40
