WHAT MAKES IT REAL?

LOCATION...

Dorset Camping UK - Burnbake Campsite (photo courtesy of Grace)

Burnbake Campsite offers secluded wild quiet family camping in the woods between Corfe Castle and the sea on the Isle of Purbeck (which isn’t actually an island by the way. It’s a 60 square mile area of land surrounded by the sea on 3 sides).

We live in London and this lovely small campsite saved me. I was extremely stressed out at work and felt I was about to have a break down. My boyfriend decided that a camping trip was in order to save my soul. We ended up at this Dorset Camping site for a long weekend. A few days of the simple life put me back on track. Thank you Burnbake!

Dorset Camping UK - sandy beaches of Studland

Burnbake Campsite has 12 acres of woodland and open grass with a stream running through the middle, where you can set up camp under the trees or out in the open. It is perfect for camper van camping or tent camping (access road not suitable for caravans). If you are in a large group you can go in the events field, giving you the space to have fun without disturbing the rest of the camp ground.

It’s a great family camping site as there are open fields to run in, woodlands to play in, a river to paddle in and rope swings to swing on.

Nearby Corfe Castle is a definite visit. What a beautiful little picture postcard town. To walk around the romantic ruins of Corfe Castle is very special, particularly if a steam train trundles past you, as it did when we were here.

The Jurassic coast of Dorset is very pretty. You can walk from Burnbake Campsite to the sandy beaches of Studland, across the heathland, in about an hour. It’s a lovely peaceful walk.

Directions:

Burnbake Campsite is situated between Corfe Castle and Studland, just off the B3351.

From Wareham:

  • Take the A351 to Corfe Castle.
  • Turn left at the castle onto the B3351 Studland road
  • Go under the old stone railway arch
  • Take the third turning to the left, signposted to Rempstone. Follow the Campsite signs north for one mile
  • Turn right through fields onto the campsite.

From the Swanage Ferry from Sandbanks, Canfordcliffs to Shell Bay (highly recommend this - it takes 3 minute and costs under £5):

  • Follow the road through Studland
  • At the Swanage fork continue on towards Corfe Castle
  • Take the first turning right, after about 2 miles, on the brow of hill, signposted to Rempstone.
  • Follow the Campsite signs North for one mile
  • Turn right through fields onto the campsite.
