NZ Camping - Mount Cook National Park: White Horse Hill Campground at the foot of Mount Sefton
This DOC camp ground is in Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park, right at the foot of snow capped Mount Sefton. It’s a fantastic location, with amazing walks and jaw dropping scenery all around.
For great views of the valley floor, including the camp ground and Mount Cook Village do the steep hike up Mount Sefton to the tarns or the hut (if you can manage the extra bit). The views are incredible!
The best campsite (in our opinion anyway) is the last site on your right, just before the turning circle (near the toilet block).
NZ Camping - Mount Cook Lilly at Mount Cook National Park
It is only a 30 minute walk (and a pretty walk too) to Mount Cook Village if you fancy going out for a few drinks or for dinner. We just walked here for drinks, but it made a really nice change from our usual beer in the campervan at the end of the day.
The facilities at the Camp ground were updated in 2011 and are nice and clean.
There are some sandflies here, but nothing too bad (phew!).
